The Chief Operating Officer, Fatgbems group, Mr. Ayodele Odulaja has affirmed the company's readiness to support initiatives geared towards developing the body and the mind.
Mr Odulaja stated this in Abeokuta while speaking with sports journalists on the heels of the recently held Lotus Bank Abeokuta 10 kilometer race.
The Fatgbems Chief Operating Officer who acknowledged the contributions of sports to promote unity and peaceful coexistence said there is the need to develop other sports apart from football.
"Recent in Paris, you will recall that the abled body guys were not able to win any medal unfortunately, but we have looked inward and feel that something has to be done about it and for us in Fatgbems as partner progress see the race as opportunity to reward excellence particularly the physically challenge athletes"
Describing the development of sports as a collective venture, Mr Odulaja restated the determination of the company to ensure that sports received utmost attention.
He noted that Fatgbems is not just involved in petroleum products marketing but also in logistics, i.e., movement of goods around the country.
Mr. Odulaja pointed out that the company was also diversifying into agriculture, especially the processing of cashew, which he noted would not only contribute to the nation's economy but also a way to build capacity for the country.
He added that the company would partner with associations such as SWAN to promote sports at the grassroots.
