Victor Osimhen has once been linked with a move to Manchester United, as Erik ten Haag looks to bolster his attack in the winter.
The 24-year-old Napoli striker has resurfaced on the radar of the Red Devils, after one of their top fans and PDC World Darts Championship finalist, Luke Littler picked the Nigerian international he would sign as one of the big ones.
“I’d probably get Osimhen from Napoli—one of the big ones,” the 16-year-old told Sky Sports News on Thursday.
With Jadon Sancho frozen out of the team and on the cusp of a Borussia Dortmund return, ten Haag is set for a busy winter to fortify his attack.
The overhaul could begin with the signing of Crystal Palace winger and French U21 international Michael Olise.
The Red Devils are also contemplating a move for Cameroon and Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, according to The Athletic.
Meanwhile, Mark Hughes, the legendary Manchester United striker who coached the player at Stoke City, has expressed reservations about signing Choupo-Moting, arguing that he can’t drive a team but is only good enough as a backup.
Hughes told Sky Sports: “I think it’s a must at this moment in time. I had Choupo-Moting at Stoke; I brought him to the club.
“He’s a great guy around the place, has a nice personality, and can play clearly.
“He’s more of a player that would be a good backup.
“Whether or not he can drive a team himself, I’m not quite sure. But in terms of bringing someone into the Premier League, he has that understanding, a bit like Timo Werner, who has experience at Chelsea, which is a real consideration.
“In terms of ability, they tick the boxes, but whether they can make a huge difference to United, I’m not too sure.”
