In a solemn and heartfelt ceremony, family, friends, and sympathizers gathered to pay their respects and tributes to the Late Iyalode Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson during her Final Burial on Friday, December 8th, 2023.
The Church Service held at 'The African Church Cathedral Of St. James' Egba Diocese, Ogun Province, Idi-Ape, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
Alaba Lawson who passed away on Saturday 28th of October, 2023 was laid to rest where dignitaries paid their respects and others who knew her expressed their deep admiration and affection for her.
While paying his respect, the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun described late Alaba Lawson as an icon who lived a memorable and impactful life, adding that his administration will nourish her legacy.
He however, consoled the children and family members she left behind, praying that the God Almighty will stand with them.
"We are celebrating the life of our own Iyalode who was indeed an industrious daughter of Ogun State. She was very eloquent, courageous, principle, fearless and tireless woman. She mentored many children and indeed she was their mentor. I am very grateful for your role in my political journey. We will do the needful to sustain your legacy.
"Let us bear the irreplaceable lost. Iyalode Alaba Lawson was a loving mother for her sons. She was a loving and serving person to her God.
In his sermon, the Primate of African Church, His Eminence J.O.O Abbe said Late Iyalode Alaba Lawson was a defender of defenceless and who fight for weak people, stressing that She lived a worthy and holy life. And was a truthful, courageous, reliable and dependable mother to her children.
He urged the Nigerian political leaders to emulate the life of Alaba Lawson by having impact in the life of poor people, saying that people are suffering especially at this period of Fuel subsidy removal.
Iyalode Alaba Lawson was survived by children and grand children who are Akinola Lawson, Dr. Olaoluwa Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Bolaji Lawson, Timi Lawson and Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi.
Others dignitaries present at the event are the Wife of Ogun State governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and his wife; Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimat Salako-Oyedele; former governor of Ogun State, Sen. ibikunle Amosun; former Nigeria Ambassador to United Kingdom, Sarafadeen Tunji Ishola, and host of others.
