By Yusuf Olatunji

The Ogun State Chairman of Local Government Pensioners Association Of Nigeria, Pastor Benedict Ademoye has debunked the recent claims of the embattled former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Mr Wale Adedayo , alleging the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, over financial misappropriation and diversion of funds belonging to his local government.

The Ogun State LOGPAN Chairman, Pastor Benedict Ademoye stated this in an exclusive interview with the Oguncity news blogs.

" The claims of the impeached Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Mr Wale Adedayo are false. He didn't understand the system, if he had consulted with experienced, competent and knowledgeable local government practitioners, he would have been better informed ." --- the LOGPAN Chairman stated.

His words: The three tier of government, Federal, States and Local Governments were constitutional mandated to settle first line charges or joint sevices whenever they get fund from the Federal allocation. " ----- he added.

According to Pastor Ademoye , the first line payments include staffs salaries, wages, pensions gratuities.

" The constitution of Nigeria, provided for a body called the Joint Local Government Allocation Committee ( JAAC) which manages the joint Local government account in which all Local government chairmen and other relevant stakeholders are members." ---- the retired seasoned administrator disclosed.

" The State government argument when this Adedayo's case happened, the Secretary to the State government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi  addressed the press. The Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr Dapo Okubadejo gave a run down of local governments fund allocation between 2019 to date and that the correct position, any claim contrary to that is false ." ---- he explained.

Pastor Ademoye, therefore, stressed that Mr Wale Adedayo had been the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, and other political functionaries were receiving salaries and allowances, the career officers in the local government and primary school teachers as well as Pensioners from primary schools and local government were paid monthly.

" During the recent celebration of two years in office of local government chairmen, projects were commissioned in the local governments, where then is the issue of zero allocation to Ijebu East local government comes about." ---- he queried .
