"Our aim is to put the name Abeokuta South on the map of football and sports in the country",those were the words of the Chairman of Abeokuta South Football Coaches Council,Henry Eniola Oviawe,he made the disclosure in an interview on Thursday at the Training Pitch of the MKO Abiola Stadium,Abeokuta,after the events to unveil the programs for Abeokuta South Football Coaches' League's new season
Oviawe maintained that the conclusion of last season's edition League was a success which culminated in setting up of the second season.He highlighted some incentives that have been put in place to make the upcoming season more successful
"We have taken our time to plan well for this season.There was nothing at stake to play for last season,but this season,there are many prizes at stake;there are cash prizes for the eventual winners as well as incentives for the best players in all matches"
"We reached out to seek for sponsorship,but we only got Toyin Amuzu Foundation who had given out Jerseys to last season's winners and runners-up and also promised to pay the cash prizes for this season"
Coach Henry as he is fondly called,called on Governments,Cooperate Organisations and Philanthropists to see sports and especially football as a tool to curb youth restiveness in the society as he maintained that an idle hand is the devil's workshop
In a separate interview with the Founder Toyin Amuzu Foundation,Chief Toyin Amuzu,he said "not all youths are going to work in offices or be willing to take up white collar job,and those who are interested in sports,we should be willing to support them"
"The big football stars today started somewhere,so we have to encourage the upcoming ones to fulfill their God-given talents"
Meanwhile,the fixtures for the new season's first round of matches are out.The opening match comes up on Tuesday,21st of February,2023 at 10am,at the Training Pitch of the MKO Abiola Stadium,Abeokuta between Patriots FC and Allen Taylor Football Academy
Goal-Driven football Academy will slog it out with Joju Fadairo FC in the second match of the day while the defending Champions Oluwole FC trade tackles with AR United for the last match of the opening day
The remaining two matches for the Week will be played on Thursday 23rd of February at the same venue.Golden Stars FC takes on Gunners FC at 11am and Egba Anglican FC versus Toyin Amuzu FC at 1pm
