The importance of primary education has once again been brought to the front burner as bedrock and foundation of national development.
It is on the above premise , that the executive chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa has charged the newly sworn- in executive secretary and board members of Local Government Education Authority to buckle up for the new task ahead of them, stressing that the task of enhancing primary and secondary education at the grassroots level for the attainment of optimal quality should be their concern .
The chairman gave the charge during the inaugural ceremony of the executive secretary and board members of the Local Government Education Authority, held at the council conference room , Itori.
Hon Adesina urged them to join hands with his administration to move the local government to a high and enviable pedestal and to give unalloyed support to the administration of the amiable governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR , in building the future of Ogun State together.
"As a responsible and responsive government, we shall not shy away from the role of providing affordable and qualitative education to the citizenry at the grassroots and for this, I am assuring you of our commitment, cooperation and unprecedented support towards achieving excellent education system for our pupils as well as better welfare of educational staffs."-----the chairman reassured.
The council helmsman, using the occasion to disclose that his administration had been doing everything possible in ensuring that pupils learn in a conducive atmosphere, a clear example of the gestures included ; provision of desks and benches, rehabilitation of a block of of classrooms at Baptist Day Primary School, Agbon, scholarship award to 50 students to study at Owu College Of Management and Technology and printing of customized exercise books for the pupils in the council area.
Appreciating the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR,on behalf of the appointees , Hon Adesina said, " I wish to express my appreciation to the performing governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for deeming it fit to appoint these experienced personalities at this crucial period."
" It is what I will term , putting round pegs in round holes to fill the vacuum across Education Authorities , particularly, Ewekoro Local Government."------ the chairman added.
The Executive Secretary, Local Government Education Authority, Mr Semiu Adelani , in his vote of thanks, expressed on behalf of other appointees , their gratitude to the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for the gracious and merciful appointment.
In the same vein,Mr Adelani appreciated the executive chairman, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa for the wonderful job , he had been doing since assumption of office to make the council one of the best anywhere in the world .
He promised that as charged by the chairman during his speech, they would discharge all duties assign to them with dexterity.
In all, 15 appointees were sworn- in , with Mr. Semiu Adelani as the executive secretary , alongside 4 other officers who are to serve as chief monitoring officer and monitoring officers.
Similarly,10 appointees were equally sworn- in as board members, with Mr Kazem Okanlawon being the chairman of of the board .
The colourful event was witnessed by All Progressive Congress (APC) party stalwarts, in the council area which included: the vice chairman, Hon Olabode Olasunkanmi Adegoke, leader of the legislative house, Hon Abiola Muheeb Kehinde , secretary to the local government, Mr. Okanlawon Adewunmi, the APC party chairman, Ewekoro Local Government, Chief Sbogbamu Ayinde, former chairman, Hon Davies Akinwande,all supervisors , special advisers to the chairman , consultants to the chairman, the head of local government administration, Engineer Ayoade A.A. and a host of others.
