Whether it holds or not as another board election day, there is something that September 30, 2022 is going to define about the governance of Nigeria football.
The stakes, the tension, the anger and the politicking have never been this high in the history of the build up to any NFF election.
The orders have never been this conflicting, looking like revolutionising or cementing interests in the control of the government of Nigeria football.
The field of the contestants for the presidency of the federation is deeply diverse. A mix that defines how fierce the battle would be.
But like it has been in the past, there's also the potentiality of sharp intrigues and booby traps set for the contestants by the entrenched interests which are already mounting suspicions about the transparency of the electoral process.
The ex-players group appears in my prism with a sword against the technocrats,ready for the battle of their lives, though with not too clear cut unity of purpose. Their opposite,in the same prism, appears arrogantly confident of breaking the sword and sustain the status quo.
The emerging scene shows pessimism that the election would hold, and the possibility of another long battle and litigations for the control of Nigeria football with lots of damage to its soul, ominously hanging, waiting to drop.
Except something courageously higher intervenes between now and September 30, Nigeria football may again witness a drama whose outcome no one could easily predict now.
