Ten Haag Describes Casemiro As The Long-sought Cement Between The Stones

 By Editor

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Haag, is delighted at the signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid, describing the Brazilian midfielder as the cement between the stones they have been looking for.

The former Ajax manager spoke after the 30-year-old signed a contract until June 2026, with the option to extend for a further year, subject to UK visa requirements, becoming the Red Devils’ fourth summer signing after Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez.

“He is the cement between the stones. That is what we have been looking for in the summer and found him. I’m very happy with his signing, “Ten Hag told Sky Sports.

Casemiro, who maintained his joining Manchester United is not tied to money, arrived at Old Trafford shortly before the kick off of the match between Manchester United and Liverpool, sharing his excitement in his first interview as a Manchester United player.

He said: “The opportunity to start a new challenge at Manchester United and in the Premier League is extremely exciting.

“I have worked with many great managers in my career and, having met with Erik [ten Hag] and heard his ideas, I can’t wait to work closely with him, his staff and my new team-mates in the coming years.

“I’m ending one beautiful journey in Madrid whilst starting another in Manchester as determined as ever to win football matches, win trophies and make our fans proud by bringing success to this great club.

“Everybody knows the history of Manchester United, the significance of the club around the world and what it means to its supporters. To represent United is an honour and I am ready to give everything to help the team achieve our ambitions. “

Casemiro watched from the stands as his new team-mates beat Liverpool 2-1 to secure their first win of campaign, but he will look to make his debut at Southampton on August 27 or at the latest on a subsequent trip to Leicester City on September 1.
