Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has suspended the newly appointed Transition Committee chairman of Nnewi North LGA, Mbazulike Iloka over the death of the later's wife.
Late Mrs. Chidebere Iloka reportedly died on Sunday and her family and friends suspected that she was beaten to death by her husband following a misunderstanding between the couple a day before.
It was reported that Mrs. Iloka had accosted her husband shortly after an occasion they both attended on Saturday.
It was alleged that she noticed that her husband picked some ladies who hopped into his car and one of the ladies was believed to be his girlfriend popularly known as side chic.
Mbazulike Iloka in his statement claimed that his late wife mysteriously slumped and died. But her family and friends rejected his claim on ground that he has always engaged in domestic violence by beating his wife regularly.
This led the Governor to suspend Iloka while the matter is still being investigated. However, Iloka has denied having a hand in his wife's death.
He explained that she slumped after serving food to him and his guests 50yards outside the building as he was outside relaxing while hosting his friend.
