BOA Unveils Committee Members


 

The Executive Chairman Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun state, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA) released names of constituted working committees to foster the development and  smooth running of Council’s affairs. 


In a statement signed by Adeolu Shobowale, the information officer of the council stated that this was sequel to the quest to put in place a functional cabinet that would amplify the manifestos of the Premier Local Government Chairman into reality.



Mr. Shobowale further explained that, based on the operational guidelines for local Councils and after due consultations with stakeholders, the Executive Chairman unveiled the committees to assist in piloting the affairs of the Council to provide responsive and responsible leadership to the people of Abeokuta South Local Government.


Therefore, he  revealed that the committees were key personages that will be responsible for manning strategic departments, offices and other auxiliary services that are expected to add value to running the Council.


The committees are as follows:-

Revenue Committee


Review all revenue generating departments.


Cancel all renewal of contracts.

Suggest a strategy for upward review of fees, rates.

Recommend other avenues for revenue generation through transport, more levies.

Consider ways to plug all leaks in revenue collections.



BOA Suggest ways we can engage Every Market (Iyaloja/Babaloja and their Excos) to foster a relationship with Abeokuta South Local Government in order to foster impactful developmental projects in their respective markets. 


By engaging Markets directly to explore ways we can both finance these projects 


He added "counterpart funding from other sources and Local Government participation/REA power projects REA Energy Economy Activities, Productive Use Assessments-Agro, e-mobility, water-boreholes

Training of farmers, and equipping them with the right tools i.e., seeds, farming tools, pest techniques etc. Partnering with agric industries on training our empowerment recipients.

Identify wide impact projects we can do that will boost socioeconomic activity, that is, rehabilitation works, light retrofitting/AIO Solar lights, roads that need to be graded, palliative repairs, newly constructed with drainage, Suggest areas for Street lighting, community lighting. 

inspect the condition of the LG’s Grader and furnish a report and a repair estimate if necessary.

Rehabilitation and renovation of LG property i.e. hospitals, pry sch, and other LG owned bullidings.

Suggest ways we can engage CDA/CDC to foster a working relationship with ASLG in order to foster impactful developmental projects in their respective areas. That is, engaging CDA directly to explore ways that both can finance these projects (counterpart funding from other sources /LG participation), Productive Use Assessments- Agro, e-mobility, water-boreholes etc.

Lands Committee.


(1) Audit & identification "Conduct a comprehensive audit to identify remaining government-owned Lands in Abeokuta South Local Government.


(2)Ensuring all identified lands are properly documented and secured.


(3) Review Current allocations to confirm legal ownership and compliance with regulations.


(4)Investigate cases of encroachments, legal occupation, or disputes.


(5) Recommend practical solutions to avoid prolonged litigation.


(6) Provide advice to the Local Government Chairman on land policies and best practices for allocation and usage.


(7)Verify and demarcate boundary between Abeokuta South LG and neighboring local government or communities.


(8) Review historical records and update them where discrepancies exist.


(9) Resolve boundary related disputes amicably in consultation with stakeholders.


(10)propose compromises where necessary to achieve timely solution.


(11)Create and maintain a detailed map of all government boundaries to prevent future disputes.


(12) Develop strategies to maximize the economic potential of Abeokuta South LG-owned lands.


(13)Monitor and evaluate the progress of approved investment projects.


(14)Promote public-private partnerships to attract investment.
