DONE DEAL DENNIS JOIN FOREST

Nigeria striker Emmanuel Dennis is officially a Nottingham Forest player, with the Athletic reporting that Watford have accepted a bid in the region of £20million from the newly promoted Premier League club the 24-year-old.

Personal terms have already been agreed between Nottingham Forest and the player, whose 10 goals for the Hornets weren’t able to keep them in the Premier League last season.

The transfer leaves Dennis in a position where he has to battle for a starting spot with Super Eagles team-mate Taiwo Awoniyi, who joined Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin earlier in the summer on a five-year deal, for a club record for Forest, reportedly £17 million.

Awoniyi made his debut in Sunday’s opening day 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park, coming in as a 63rd minute replacement for Samuel William. Surridge.

Cremonese, a newly promoted Italian Serie A side, will also have two Nigeria strikers competing for a starting spot. Cyriel Dessers joined the club earlier today from Genk and will be in contention for a starting shirt with David Okereke, who joined the club earlier in the summer from Club Brugge.

A product of Kwara Football Academy, Ilorin. Dennis also previously played for Zorya Luhansk and FC Köln.

He represented Nigeria at U23 level before graduating to the Super Eagles, where he has scored once in seven appearances since 2019.
